FRANCA RAVET

Une couverture parfaite.100x100.2007

Every come back of the artist is a very special moment because her art represents a full engagement, a total sincerity being the unique key to it. She was for a long time in search of herself through records of her childhood.

She is now facing somebody, the other one in front of her and in her recent works this human being is also in front of himself.

Portraits are simply profiles presented in a mirror-effect and transferred when still wet. This old technique of reversed copy allows the exploration of the various densities of hues and shades.

In some paintings embryonic heads appear in the background just like a message telling man is not alone and other generations are coming or to remember other ones where here before us.

Rare red colour spots allow some flashy effect and help to discover the light coming out of the background because you have to notice this grey background is not a single colour one but it is painted as in the olden times, layer by layer to obtain a soft deepness in the painting.

This miracle is based on technical skills and on philosophy at the same time.

This exhibition opens a more serene period with no desire to please the visitor but to show a work of total sincerity resulting from the permanent wish to tell the truth.
